We offer a regular programme of child health reviews. You will be invited to bring your child at the ages of 8 weeks, 8-12 months and two years. Child immunisations are by appointment for the first baby immunisation and for the pre-school immunisation as your child must be checked by a GP. All other immunisations are given by our practice nurse. It is advisable to make an appointment for these as well. The most important thing is to ensure your child is fully immunised. The Health Visiting team provide a clinic at All Saints School every Friday between 10:00 and 12:00 for help and advice regarding your child.
We have two community midwives attached to the practice. They work with the GPs to provide care for pregnant women. Most women choose to have their babies at the John Radcliffe Hospital. Those who give birth at St. George’s Ward, Wallingford or at home are cared for during the birth by midwives only.
You will be informed when you need antenatal clinic appointments. The midwives will give you information on classes and options for place of birth.
The doctors, assisted by a practice nurse, undertake a number of minor surgery procedures.
Your doctor may suggest Counselling as a way to help with personal worries that affect your health, and has a number of options in terms of referral.
Private Practitioners in Osteopathy, Podiatry, and Physiotherapy offer services at Woodlands for a charge. Your doctor may advise a referral or you may self-refer. These services are chargeable.
